As we are celebrating Christmas this week, Christmas Crackers may be a feature for many of you....Christmas crackers are the cardboard tubes that you find on your plate when you sit down for Christmas lunch, that usually have a hat and little toy and a terrible joke inside… the tradition is you pull a cracker with someone else at the table and whoever comes away with the larger half, wins the contents. Well, as we are big on games at TeneweedFM, we wanted to check: Have You Heard that there is a hack to help you win the cracker?
Apparently you're competitive like that (no judgement here - we love it!) and you just have to know all the tricks to have the best Christmas. I’d say play fair, but, well, we’re here!
We all have our own tricks of the trade but apparently defence technology experts QinetiQ decided to weigh in on the arguement and actually took time out to find the perfect technique to win the Christmas cracker pull every time. A lot of the success comes down to your set-up and there are some pointers about technique as well. a, hum.
Key points
Ensure you hold your end of the cracker lower than the other person's, so it is tilting downwards towards you.
When it comes time for the action to begin, apply a slow, steady pull rather than a hard yank, which would compromise your section of the cracker.
You should also avoid twisting the cracker, which would add similar stress.
Then all that's left to do is a quick how of fake modesty, placin the paper hat on your head to crown yourself the champion of Christmas Crackers, read the awful joke aloud to your family and show off your new impressive collection of miniature toys.
Falling asleep after eating so you don't have to do the dishes does NOT count as a trick.
