Have You Heard about the agreement between Spanish hoteliers and Booking.Com? The Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation (CEHAT) is reported to be very happy with the actions that Booking.com has committed to take to help make holiday costs clearer for holiday makers visiting Spain.
Booking.com has agreed to adjustments in the way that website offers, discounts and prices are communicated, which will result in “more transparent” pricing. This victory for consumers is being credited to the constant dialogue between the Hoteliers group from the European Commission which includes the previously mentioned CEHAT and ASHOTEL, the group that represent the interests of Tenerife, specifically.
The negotiated changes are reported to be
-Making it clear that the “Last Available Room” feature refers to Booking.com specifically, and avoiding using “limited offers” where the same price will be available at a later date.
-Greater transparency where results are affected by payments made by advertisers and making it easier to identify if accommodation is privately or commercially owned,
-Showing reliable quotations for the “final price” to be paid that includes existing fees (This is important as it will hell consumers to make accurate price comparisons) and ensuring discounted rates should have the original rate shown for reference.
All these changes can only improve the tourist experience, regardless of the destination, and We can imagine they will help the establishments as well because people will have a clearer idea of what they are booking and paying. It is definitely worth mentioning that as far as Booking.com is concerned, Spain has been a leader in the removal of illegal accommodation from the reservations site. Booking.com have been given until 16 June 2020 to implement these changes.

Booking.com ha acordado ajustes en la forma en que se comunican las ofertas, los descuentos y los precios del sitio web, lo que dará como resultado una fijación de precios "más transparente". -Muestra cotizaciones confiables para el "precio final" a pagar que incluye las tarifas existentes (Esto es importante ya que hará que los consumidores hagan comparaciones de precios precisas) y garantice que las tarifas con descuento muestren la tarifa original como referencia.
Todos estos cambios solo pueden mejorar la experiencia turística, independientemente del destino, y podemos imaginar que también ayudarán a los establecimientos porque las personas tendrán una idea más clara de lo que están reservando y pagando. Definitivamente vale la pena mencionar que, en lo que respecta a Booking.com, España ha sido líder en la eliminación de alojamientos ilegales del sitio de reservas. Se han otorgado Booking.com hasta el 16 de junio de 2020 para implementar estos cambios.
